Wholesome Livin' Made Easy
When one lives more a more wholesome life, it's rather interesting how things tend to just "work out" for them more often!
What it do Fighter’s!!!!! I hope you are having an IMMACULATE day today & all days!
Before we get started on this, let’s just take a moment and say “Thank you” for all the blessings we have received today. We are here & we are alive. The ultimate blessing is the time we have been given today to move towards being the best versions of ourselves that we can possibly be! AMEN!
What I wanted to do today is write an impromptu Substack post about living a more wholesome life. Now of course, this is incredibly subjective because what is wholesome to me may be silly to you. But, my life is mine to live & yours is yours to live, if something resonates use it & if it doesn’t just keep it movin my brothas and sisters.
I know that in this modern world we live in it is almost frowned upon to be wholesome due to how competitive life is & the values that our society holds. But, for the sake of your own self you MUST try to abstain from living like that. The way you think & operate affects much more than just you. If you want good, you must do good & think good. Let’s get into it.
BEING KIND TO ONESELF
The easiest way to live a more wholesome life starts from within first. You can be externally wholesome and kind, but if you do not keep that same energy within it doesn’t mean much to me. It is painful to live a lie and to me that feels like living a lie.
When you make a mistake, do not dwell on it. Do not beat yourself up on it. Be honest with yourself & then forgive yourself. That is the only way to move forward from what has happened. You gain nothing except for inner turmoil by dwelling on the mistakes of the past and to me that doesn’t really sound like gaining anything, it sounds more like losing.
Be careful with how you speak to yourself. You are what you think. It is incredibly difficult to have compassion & love for your fellow man if you do not have it for yourself.
Self talk is super important to me. If it is approached right it is another example of a mindfulness practice. Being aware of one’s thoughts.
How often do you say to yourself “I’m such an idiot!” or “Man I’m no good at this!” or anything similar like that?
Why would you limit yourself like this? If you think this in your head, so it shall become. If you think you are an idiot, you truly are an idiot.
Choose to be kind to yourself in the way you think. Love for all comes from within.
APPRECIATION
When was the last time you looked around, soaked in your surroundings and said “Man thank you for what I have”?
For me, part of being wholesome is being STUPIDLY grateful. I try to live and operate out of a place of gratitude at ALL TIMES. Thankful for anything & everything that comes my way.
Appreciation comes in all shapes and sizes. What really is important is that it is practiced. You can be thankful for the large blessings you receive, like a new job or the birth of a child, etc. But you can also be thankful for the small blessings too. The cardinal that flies past on your walk, the way the sun streams in through your window in the morning, your partner writing you a nice note to start your day.
Both are equally great types of things to be grateful for. Appreciate anything & everything that you are blessed to receive in your daily life. This type of thinking compounds, it becomes infectious. When you live in a state of deep appreciation for every moment that you get to be here & everything that you get to do, it is hard NOT to live a more wholesome life.
SERVICE TO OTHERS
For me, the true purpose of life is to live as deeply in service to others as you possibly can. This means on an individual level, helping as many people as you can. But also it means helping to improve humanity overall as much as possible in your time here.
You’ve heard the phrase “Leave it better off than when you arrived” right? The same applies to humanity. Shift your perspective from doing only for yourself to doing for others.
Root your life mission in service to others and you may just be surprised how much easier it becomes to accomplish your mission. You start to grow to love humanity more as a whole.
Live selflessly. Random acts of kindness are one of the greatest gifts you could ever give to another human. You never know when the small kindness you show another human could literally save someone’s life. That is truly powerful.
Give to others more, as often as you can. It doesn’t even have to be all financially. Yeah that surely helps, but there are other ways too. Help your neighbor who is old take in their trash cans. Help someone carry their groceries. Pick up trash around your neighborhood (this one is BIG).
Service to others comes in many shapes and sizes, but it is a currency that is worth more than anything financial you could ever receive. Service to others is one of the best ways in my opinion to purify the soul. But it must be done for the right reasons.
What does that mean? It must be done without expecting anything in return. NEVER be one of those people that record themselves buying the homeless person lunch. That is extremely corny. Yeah it is service to others, but it isn’t selfless service to others. That is doing work for the ego, not for humanity.
I’d like to close this section with a passage from The Bhagavad Gita: “Strive constantly to serve the welfare of the world; by devotion to selfless work one attains the supreme goal of life” (3:19)
There are many more ways to live wholesome, but we will save those for a different day. For now? Start within yourself. Be kind & compassionate to oneself. Selflessly live to serve humanity as a whole. Your mission is far greater than just you. It affects everyone who comes after you & everyone who is associated with you.
Look for opportunities, small or large, to help those around you. Even if you do not know them personally. It may just save a life, but surely it will change a life. Yours and theirs.
GOD BLESS & TYG x 1 TRILLION
We are immensely blessed to be living this life. Remember & recognize that.
